Inspections need to be grouped in accordance with role and qualifications of role to inspect a specific asset and a work schedule so a official with a specific skill is tasked to inspect all the relevant assets within a specific time envelope.

or rather the volume and inspection schedules need to be optimised to identify a staffing and skill set required by an operator to achieve an efficient inspection schedule - perhaps an online briefing CPD course to rebrief an operator on what they are looking for based on past inspections.

this would lead to a more flexible approach to inspection scheduling to ensure that assets in a specific area are inspected by an appropriately skilled inspector within a certain period rather on a specific day.

inspection reports should be able to call for remedial action e.g. “anti rust treatment required within 6 months” or “visit from electrical engineer to review apparent damage from squirrel incursion” inspection reports might be used to dynamically evolve work schedules of operators to attend “nearby” issues even if the issue is lower priority but represents more efficient use of staff with relevant skills.
